Each year, we strive to increase awareness of the abilities of persons with disabilities and their contribution to the workforce at our annual banquet. The focus of the event is to promote the continued inclusion for people with disabilities within our community and to empower them to reach their full potential. Our event is not a fundraiser - the funds from sales of seats, tables, and sponsorships only cover the expenses of this grand event to help raise awareness and share our mission. This year we proudly celebrate our 54th Anniversary.
Author "If You Could Hear What I See"
Motivational Diversity Speaker
Kathy was diagnosed with a hearing loss from birth and encountered many social and learning struggles. Kathy describes that her early life was “one challenge after another.”
As a teenager she suffered from bouts of depression and was in an automobile accident that caused internal injuries and an injury to her face that necessitated 32 stitches. When she was just 20 she was run over by a 3,500-pound lifeguard jeep. Pronounced dead by an attending paramedic, it took her almost 5 years of recovery and rehabilitation. It wasn’t until she recovered from cervical cancer that she started in a long and successful career in making the best of the worst through laughter.
Kathy is a five-time American Comedy Awards Nominee as Best Stand-Up Female Comedienne and the winner of countless other awards for her work. She is also an actress, writer and producer, author, humanitarian, and one of the country’s leading motivational speakers.
Her television appearances include The Tonight Show, Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, The Today Show, Entertainment Tonight, Extra, Inside Edition, CNN, HBO, her original PBS special, “”NO Labels, No Limits!” and E! Entertainment even named her one of the "World’s Most Intriguing Women" in their original special and is the author of the heartfelt and hilarious book “If You Could Hear What I See.”
She has been a motivational speaker for Tony Robbins and is currently a motivational diversity speaker for one of the world's largest beauty products companies.
