The smile says it all about Melinda Diven. For a person whose life has not always been “smiled on,” Melinda with her energy and willingness to please would have anyone surprised that anything had ever gone wrong.
Melinda came to ECVC for services after taking a leave from her prior job. When she was back “up and running,” the position was no longer available. She wanted to work, though, wherever she could get placed. At ECVC her Employment Specialist knew she had a great employee and took her to Pizza Inn. Pizza Inn, a long time employer for ECVC’s clients, interviewed Melinda and saw a person they wanted. She was hired in February of 2007, and the match has been a success. Melinda goes in Monday through Friday from 9am until 1pm to prep the salad bar items and to do whatever other job needs to be done in the kitchen.
She is totally independent. She lives outside of Ayden with her 12 year old daughter. She drives herself to and from work and wherever else she needs to go. Her aunt and uncle live in Kinston and offer support when needed. But Melinda’s true support comes from the ECVC staff, and Pizza Inn where she is “part of the family.”
Melinda’s drive, effort and amazing attitude make her the perfect choice for ECVC’s Success Story of the Year Award for 2007.
